Just to say - I'm still here! And I'm still alive! And I might be coming to Oxford this weekend! (Though probably only for Saturday...) Who's around?

Or so I was told by a St Martin's art student on Friday night. By that logic, I die tomorrow morning, if only in a temporary manner. Unfortunately my first day is in Guildford, although subsequent ones are in central London - drop me a text or whatever if you fancy lunch or something in the evening around there :) Anyway, Guildford means getting up at 6am, which isn't that many hours from now, and I've still to get together the various forms and stuff I need to take tomorrow (or, in fact, find the letter that tells me what they are). Not quite sure why I've left it this late. I've spent most of the day establishing that my laptop's just a bit shit at peripherals. Which is a shame because I have a lot of them. Ah well, I'll survive. Anyway, nothing particularly interesting to report other than paintballing for Rob's birthday was brilliant. Cheers |

Four hours until I'm free. "Education.... check". I'm getting quite seriously nervous about this exam, and for the first time this time around I'm having to do some serious cramming. I'm going to have to wing it quite a lot, but with some luck and a following wind I might be OK. See you on the other side! |

Phew! I've *finally* (and I've been trying for a long time) managed to get up to date on my friends page. I admit, I did scan a couple of the longer ones, and of course, someone will write an epic now that puts me back at square one, but for the moment I'm going to enjoy my success :)
Also, pictures (taken by Lara) of my 21st, for those who might be interested. |

If you renew your passport before the 31st May 2006 you can:
- avoid being placed on the National Identity Register, and so avoid much of the surveillance the Government would like to impose upon us
- avoid a compulsory interview where you would be required to produce numerous personal documents to be recorded, along with your fingerprints and eye scan, by the Government
- avoid, for 10 years, having to make sure all the details the Government hold on you are correct or face huge fines, even if the details are incorrect because they've made a mistake
- help contribute to a spike in renewal requests, sending a strong message that our identities are ours, and that licensing them from the Government is not acceptable

I'm now the proud(?) owner of martin.mcnulty@st-annes.oxon.org. Shame they couldn't find some space inside the Oxford domain for it, but there you go, it's free I guess. Just that it looks like some kind of dodgy rip-off riding on the University's name. Mnyah.
Good evening with Jamie et al. last night: The Yard, The Friendly Society, G-A-Y Bar, G-A-Y Late. Met very many nice young men and gained a Brazilian and a Spanish friend. Thouroughly recommend G-A-Y Late (Goslett Yard, I think, just round the corner from the Astoria - 11pm-3am, very cheap drinks until the end of April because it's just opened). Anyway, g2g :)

Thoughts in no particular order. I think I'm listening to too much Pink Floyd. I excuse this by saying that I'm not really listening to the lyrics, but still, I think it may be doing bad things to my subconscious even if it is good. Have properly discovered Banksy - John's been mentioning him for ages, but I never really took any interest in him. Wandered into a sex shop/bookshop in soho the other day and found the book of lots of his work that John has far more interesting than all the books full of naked men. Still, didn't stop me going to the Village afterwards to see the go-go dancers (humanahumanah drool). I think perhaps I should be doing my project report in LaTeX as it tends to look better, but I also think that may just be a tactic my brain's thought up for giving me something to do that feels like work but doesn't actually involve making any progress on my project report (which has kind of split itself into two fairly distinct documents that it's going to take a bit of work to reconcile/integrate). Finally, I think I should be more worried about this year. Work is slow - I wanted to be revising by this point, but I'm still writing up my project. But even so, I've got a friend coming over tonight, I went out last night, and the one before that and a day in between. I really don't want to have to rely on last year's marks to carry me through this one. Anyway, well done if you've made it through that malformed brain dump. :)

Will be in the Bullingdon (down in Cowley) on Monday 24th April. The King Earl Boogie Band will be playing (and they're really good - the piano player is Colin Earl of Mungo Jerry - think "In the summertime, when the weather is fine", he wrote it - and I think one of the others used to play with Status Quo) and I will be drinking (not that much of an attractive thought admittedly, but I'll try not to become incapable). Bring anyone and everyone, it'd be brilliant to see as many of you as possible :D
On a related note, my parents have asked me what I want for my birthday, but I (and I can't believe this is a problem!) actually can't think of anything suitable. I'd like something fairly long-lasting but that's about as far as I've got, so if anyone can help me out with any ideas, or just tell me about cool birthday presents you've had, that'd be brilliant - thanks!

Just to say good luck to James, Manisha and Sarah! I think you're all off today (well, yesterday I guess) and I meant to see if I could catch you all before you left to say good luck, but I forgot in the mania of end-of-term moving out. Anyway, can't wait to read your first instalment :p

From my friend Patrick:
"If you have ever been offended by anything in your entire life, avoid this film."
Otherwise, go see it - it's hilarious!

Mnyah. I'm bored. So bored, in fact, that I now have a piece of software running that lets me know whenever there's a new story posted on the Register so that I can go and waste a few more precious minutes reading it. Project's proving interesting so far though, just don't really want to do any work.
Also, 'yay' for the rebels that voted against the government last night - ID cards must be stopped. However, we need a few more next time.
Also, I have a dentist's appointment at 4 (it was on a different day, then it was today at a different time, now it's at 4). This'll be the first time I've been in about a year, and the first time I've been since I chipped a couple of teeth when my bike fell apart under me. Don't think he's going to be happy.

Had a good weekend in York visiting Chris and Alex - both old schoolfriends. Also ran into Craig, which was decidedly surreal (isn't it always?) Anyway, free music festival, lots of beer and the York Dungeon, so it was all good. Ipswich next weekend for Lucy's boyfriend's birthday party, and a New York Film School after-screening party tonight in Fulham. One week until I start work though :(
Listening to: Dusty Springfield, somewhat accidentally Thinking about: Transputers - my third year project

Better start getting ready to go to York tomorrow - visiting two school friends, going to a free music festival, should be a good weekend. However, need to be at King's Cross for noon, which means getting up early and packing stuff now. G'night.
